Somerset Scrumpy

It's all about the apples in Somerset at this time of the year and this haul from our trees has been processed into 20 pints of scrumpy hopefully! The alchemy is underway and in about a month we should be having our first tasting of Stocklinch Scrumpy 🤞🤗🍎🍎🍎🐛

Blooming' Marvellous

This is what welcomes you on arrival 😃 It's been blooming marvellous for weeks now and is the perfect distraction from the rest of the flower beds which are all looking a little bit tired and windswept 🌺🌸

Twinkly Lights

Ok, I can't lie.... the weather has been pretty disgusting at times this week ⛈️ though in between the showers we have had some lovely warm sunshine 🌞so not all bad. However it's definitely much more autumnal and it's dark by 7.30!! Time for the twinklies, candles, blankets and firepit I think 😊🌛✨🌌

Stocklinch Library

If you've not had a chance to make plans before you arrive, don't worry, here's a selection of books, maps & guides on places you could visit and things to do. Alternatively you could just stay put and use the binoculars to do a bit of bird spotting and star gazing, or read up on how to get hygge in the hut!

Berry Picking

'Tis the season for picking berries and these are flippin lovely 😊 If I can control my greediness and not scoff the lot, I'll have a go at making some bramble jelly for you which is pretty scrummy on a slice of toast.

Autumn Newsletter 2019

Welcome to the Autumn 2019 Stocklinch Shepherd's Hut Newsletter. Apparently autumn officially started this week which sadly means that Summer 2019 has come to an end. It has however been an amazing summer here at the Stocklinch Shepherd's Hut with lots of you enjoying soaking in the hot tub, swinging in the hammock, lazing in the sunshine, celebrating with your loved one, sipping Somerset cider, savouring the sunsets, spotting the stars, strolling over the hill to enjoy the hospitality at The Barrington Boar or simply taking life very slowly! And not only are we officially in the top 5 new luxury glampingly sites for summer 2019, but we also achieved over 100 5 star reviews on Airbnb! Thank

Pub Stroll

Okay so maybe not tonight 🌧️ but it was a beautiful stroll over the hill to The Barrington Boar the other evening

Somerset Skyline

This evening from above the hut looking out across Somerset towards the Quantock, Brendon, Exmoor and Blackdown Hills. Even in the hazy autumn sunshine it's still a spectacular view

Somerset Art

This is a jewel in Somerset's crown and we are slap bang in the centre of a honeypot of wonderful artists, makers and craftsmen exhibiting (and selling!) over the next couple of weeks. And I would highly recommend a visit to venue 48 just over the hill from here for beautiful glass, ceramics and paintings - all unique and gorgeous!

100 5 Stars!

Made it to 100 5 star reviews on Airbnb 😊's the link to read what guests have to say about a stay here...... And don't worry if you're not on Airbnb - I promise you get the same 5 star service if you book directly (link in bio) and you save yourself some money

Willowy Willows

Amazing blue skies at the moment and amazing growth this year on these willows planted around the edge of the orchard. We planted 100 1' whips 5 years old and now they're about 50' high 😃. Beautiful though they are, they need to be less lanky and willowy and more chunky before we can coppice them for fire wood for the hot tub. Maybe give it another 5 years before we've achieved sustainable fuel supplies for the tub - patience

Cider Season

This is Somerset style cider production on a small scale - vintage stuff! We've had a very jolly afternoon helping friends with their first press of the season in this beautiful September sunshine - hic, hic🤪 Will need to make a start on our own Stocklinch cider - we've got a bumper crop 😊

Hammock Life

I'm definitely a hammock convert - it is absolutely perfect especially in this amazing sunny weather we're having right now

Thank you Pressie

A little "thank you for coming" pressie for our latest guests who toughed it out through Monday's monsoon conditions - they said it enhanced their glamping experience - though probs got more to do with their extremely sunny disposition🌞! Lovely to meet you both 😀

Cycle Somerset

Recent guests brought their bikes so this was my suggested route, Stocklinch to Muchelney - 18 miles of quiet lanes through classic South Somerset countryside and several highlights enroute including the studios of world renowned potter, John Leach, Margery Fish''s iconic gardens at East Lambrook Manor, award winning cider brandy distilled at Burrow Hill, Muchelney Abbey, the gentle River Parrett and no less than 7 potential refreshment stops! For you cycling enthusiasts, it's up on Strava and yes, our guests enjoyed it, even with the hills!
