#jamfirst

This week's hot topic down here in the south west is scones #jamfirst and a bit of a faux pas committed by a cornish National Trust property causing regional outrage! So staying on topic, here are my Top 5 local tea & scone stops. In Ilminster, No.57, with its slightly dickensian feel, the most amazing selection of cakes, brunch & lunch options, and vintage bric a brac to buy, this makes for a great destination. The Ilminster Arts Centre is renowned for its cheese scones and show casing our very talented local artists. At Rose Mills, on the edge of Ilminster is f.east, specialising in rocket fuel coffee, fab cakes and super tasty veggie lunches. Out at The Trading Post Farm Shop, Lopenhead is Pip's Railway Carriage Cafe where apart from the difficulty of choosing what to eat from the temptations on offer, you also have the novelty of deciding where to dine from the eclectic variety of venues! And no. 5 on my list is The Pottery Tearoom at Dennis Chinaworks, a short stroll over the hill, which will be opening it's doors for 2018 next week, where you can enjoy light refreshments in their delightful courtyard garden whilst watching the potters at work. Enjoy and I leave it to you to decide is it jam first or cream........
